Level 3 Professional Investigators – Accredited Qualification
The Level 3 Professional Investigators Award is made up of 2 units:-
- Principles of Planning and Reporting Investigations
- Principles of Gathering and Using Information for Investigations
Learners taking this qualification will work in, or want to work in, the security sector as professional investigators. This qualification is based on the Security Industry Authority (SIA) specifications for core competency training for private investigators. It covers the understanding and skills individuals need to operate as professional investigators. The qualification gives learners the opportunity to:-
- develop knowledge related to being a professional investigator
- achieve a nationally-recognised Level 3 qualification
- develop their own personal growth and engagement in learning

What do I get?
After being accepted on the course, you will receive access to our online training portal – this includes all the learning material you will need to pass the course. There is also a mock exam to check you are ready to attend the Assessment Day. The mock exam consists of questions with multiple-choice answers. After passing this mock exam you will receive an email with a booking link for you to pick and book yourself onto your Assessment Day. This is in the same format as the final assessment.
You also get full email support from your tutor who is a highly experienced investigator with 20+ years front line experience. He will guide you throughout the course where you need assistance and has additional learning materials to hand should you need them.
You must provide one form of photographic ID and a proof of address to receive this qualification. You will be asked to provide these on enrolment and again on the Assessment Day.
On passing the course you will receive an accredited and recognised certificate through the awarding body SFJ Awards.
The Assessment Day
The Assessment Day is held in our training rooms in Paddington, London. The course tutor holds a revision session which includes running through two past papers to check your learning. Your course tutor will also have a slide presentation to cover the key points that nearly always come up in the final assessment. You can ask any questions you have in the classroom environment. The assessment is conducted in the presence of an independent exams officer. This is 45 questions with multiple choice answers.

Pass rate
At Bluemoon College we are proud of the excellent pass rate achieved by our students. Out of the hundreds of students we have put through the assessment only two have ever failed first time around. Both of these students had extenuating circumstances and were successful on their second attempt.
